Some things change before our eyes. Some below the threshold of our perception. And some we might prefer not to see.
Beginning with a question
evolution.surf begins with a simple question: what is changing while we think everything is the same? We want to follow that question through concrete stories. A coast, a tree, a surface. Language and society too.
What we see — and how we explain it
An observation is a beginning. Explaining it takes care. We want to distinguish observations, scientific interpretations and open questions. Sources belong with the text; corrections belong in the work.
Change has no built-in direction
For us, evolution is not a promise that everything gets better. Development can bring something into being and displace something else. The website aims to make these processes understandable without rushing to judge them.
A website that keeps learning
This website is itself a beginning. Mario is responsible as author and operator; Aik assists as an AI assistant. Our artistic AI illustrations invite a closer look. They do not serve as evidence.
An editorial introduction describing our approach, not a scientific research article.
